The surf has been pretty damn good the last few weeks. And this one? This one kind of snuck up on us.
My regret was that I didn't shoot enough video. I shot in the morning and got some good pics of Lars and Crowley.
It was borderline video worthy. In hindsight, I should have shot video in the AM and the early afternoon.
I ended up using stills of both Lars and Crowley. Call it a compromise. I blame myself. It's all on me.
So I shot this in 4K so watch in 1080 or higher. Music is by the Adobe Library.

May 1st, 2022 The RUN is 37 out of 37 Weeks.
Waist high or better at least once a week.
There were head high to overhead high waves on April 27th,
and waist to chest high on April 28th, 2022.
THE RECORD FOR THE MOST CONSECUTIVE WEEKS IN A ROW FOR WAIST HIGH OR BETTER. August 8th, 2021 was 53 WEEKS! TOPPING THE 43 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS SET IN 2009!

THE WILD-WINDY-WEDNESDAY SWELL APRIL 27th, 2022
So I had just left a funeral service for a Korean War Vet, and decided to drive along the coast. The wind was just starting to get wound up when I came across this scene. It was Crowley Gentile and Lars Hamilton with a couple of others surfing a perfect little peak. I laughed to myself, thinking how we all love to complain about the crowds and aggro surfers, when here I was looking at a handful of friends sharing a perfect peak. What crowds? What aggro ass?
It was so fun looking that I wanted to put the camera down and join them. Here's Crowley on a solid head high right just enjoying the snot out of this overcast gray day with a friend or two.

The same wave as above, only a little further in. The two of them were getting a half dozen or more whacks and carves out of each wave they caught.
As I was editing the pics from this swell, I noticed the similarities of Lars and Crowley's unique cutback stances. And well, you know me, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a little Photoshop magic. These two pics were shot within a half hour of each other. They both have that same drop knee on the back leg. I've down a few of these in my time and it's always funny when people think it's real. I mean it could happen, but the chances of getting an actual photo like this? Slim to nil.
Like this one. Clearly two different days. The color of the water is pretty evident of that fact. Yet people thought this was real. Seriously.
And of course this one. The pic of Max and I on the left is from 2010 the one on the right is from 1980. Same board. Same Ralph's. Just a few years difference. The point is I enjoy doing these funny little photo shop pics.
Now back to the WWW SWELL.
Later in the afternoon the swell hit a serious pulse and just turned on. Unfortunately so did the wind. But there's nothing more dramatic than a strong swell with a strong offshore wind. As a photographer and filmmaker, those are the perfect ingredients for dramatic stills and video. Look at this wave. In fact look at both ends of it. The right and the left were equally good. I shot both stills and video of this session.
And this one? Come on, that's top to bottom hollow. These are the kinds of waves we all seek. Hollow offshore grinders. Served up special in this WWW SWELL. WILD-WINDY-WEDNESDAY. APRIL 27th, 2022.

NOW FOR SOME LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS
The daily news from Ukraine is still not good, however there's always that silver lining in the dark clouds of life. And the one silver lining of this tragic war is the vulnerability of the RUSSIAN Tanks. Apparently the Russian tanks store all of their ammo behind the turrets. This flawed turret is susceptible of sustaining devastating penetration from the Javelins creating this "JACK IN THE BOX" effect. In other words, the missile essentially enters through the turret, hitting the ammo storage compartment, and blowing the turret off the top of the tank. Thus killing everyone inside the tank. Yikes.
No wonder we see so many destroyed Russian Tanks. And so many dead Russian Generals. The last I heard was 10 Generals killed in action. That's unheard of. And Putin has once again threatened to use his Nukes. And if that wasn't scary enough the news out of North Korea today was equally frightened. KRAZY KIM has threatened to use his NUKES too. Boy the world has never been closer to both WWIII and Nuclear War than it is today.
US MARINE
KILLED IN UKRAINE
Willy Joseph Cancel 22yrs old was KIA in Ukraine on Monday April 25th, 2022. He leaves behind a wife and 7 month old son. Cancel was in The Marine Corps from 2017-2021. He volunteered to go fight in Ukraine through a private company. He was the first American killed in the Ukraine Russian war. His body was not recovered. There's a big difference between the Marines and those fighting on the Ukraine side. The Marines would have retrieved his body. No matter what. The Marines LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND. Semper Fi Marine.
CELTICS SWEEP NETS 4-0! But Lose to The BUCKS
in Game 1 Conference Semi Finals!
With an impressive 4-0 Sweep of the NETS, the Celtics fall to the Bucks in Game 1 of the Semi Finals 101-89. Because I did not watch the whole game, I don't feel qualified to speak of how they played. But from what I did see? They were just not hitting any of the baskets they were in the prior 4 games against the Nets.
But...as we all know it's the best of seven games, so this is no time to panic just yet. This CELTICS team is resilient enough to comeback so y'all just Stay tuned. And it wouldn't hurt to pray.

KSM Photoshop of the Week
Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time before the Sheik found his way into the Johnny Depp Trial. He seems to have a knack for showing up every week where the hottest TV stories are. So this should be no surprise to anyone out there who follow these weekly KSM series. And I'm not saying that Khaliddy and Amber have a thing going on behind Johnny's back. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were. She does seem to go for those bad boy types. And let's face it, they don't get any badder than KSM.

Yesterday- 50 YEARS AGO THIS SUMMER. THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE TRIP TO NS. SUMMER OF 1972.
This is a photo of me at the main beach break in L-Town in NS. We went there so many times in the early days. It was still relatively unknown back then. Last week's Blog about Steve Clark buying property up there had me looking for this old pic. I have not been back there in many years. We used to call it the LAST FRONTIER.
